Actually the big donation is basically a Parisian initiative. The idea is to create a temporary place on the street for a few hours, to propose and give to passers-by objects that we don't use anymore and that can be useful for them or please them.
This does not require a large organization, and, a priori, no administrative authorization if the chosen place does not contravene public order, or is not close to shops, etc. It is not superfluous to ask for permission, to prevent any blunder during the action.
It is a pleasant event to experience, and people who discover it have usually a positive impression.
A local and ephemeral event that generates civic solidarity and swarms.
